The Nipomo Rotary Club’s outgoing President Lou Gomez presented a check to Nipomo Food Pantry Co-Founder Jerry Fialho, and volunteer food handler Jeanne Taylor in the amount of $250.00. Ted Pickett, not pictured is also a Co-Founder.
The Nipomo Rotary Club donates $50 a month to the Food Pantry along with collecting other items such as plastic bags, bag ties and food items.
Hours for the Food Pantry are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00am to 1:00pm. For further information or donations you can reachJerry Fialho at 929-1380 or Ted Pickett at 929-8382.
Other volunteers at the Food Pantry are Larry and Carolyn Bouchard, George and Dagmar Silva along with Shirley Mills who is the receptionist that keeps the records of those that come to the Food Pantry for assistance.
Most of the current volunteers were previously associated with the Salvation Army in Nipomo in some way until it was relocated to Oceano. Finding that there was still a need in Nipomo for those that couldn’t find a way to get to Oceano the Nipomo Food Pantry was open in April of 2008.
Nice blog! Thanks for posting and keep up the good work.
